Purpose
- To explore coaching and mentoring skills, attitudes and practices that will help managers develop their employees.
- To introduce managers to mentoring and coaching and the performance benefits of adopting a coaching style of leadership
- To learn how to coach and mentor using the GROW coaching model
It is delivered in two days: One to learn the basic concepts and one day to practice coaching
Outline
- Identify the difference between mentoring, coaching, and managing
- Describe the benefits of adopting a ‘coaching’ management style
- Provide a coaching and mentoring model
- Recognise the importance of developing awareness and responsibility when coaching and mentoring
- What are the core coaching attitudes and principles
- Learn to listen at different levels (thinking, feeling and intention)
- Explore the use of coaching questions, silence and challenge
- Demonstrate the application of the GROW model in a coaching context
- Demonstrate the use of scalar questions in a coaching context
- Recognise the positive impact coaching can have on performance
- Explore key attitudes and behaviours that are critical to successful coaching interactions
- Practice, practice, practice and develop the key coaching skills of listening, questioning, giving feedback, observation and using intuition.

Expert Coaching ( optional)
3-4 weeks after the workshop, you will receive a 1 hour telephone coaching session with the workshop trainer. The purpose of this session is to report back on the success and challenges you have faced in the coaching conversations you have had since the workshop and to explore how to take your coaching skills to the next level

We restrict the number of participants to a ratio of 1 to 4 maximum, as the key to success in this programme is the practice and feedback.
It’s a practical and experiential workshop that provides you with hands on experience to start making a difference on your team.
